Devlog 0 - Hit the ground running
Hello All. As of today, I've been making games as a hobby for about 9 months. It's a true passion of mine, but as I get more free time to work on these kinds of projects I feel more inefficient. I find myself squandering a greater portion of it on drivel (namely social media and youtube). I also want to be open minded to changing the game to enhance the most fun aspects of it, but I know having no vision of how the game will turn out leads to wasted efforts on things that will never be in a published game. All that to say: I need structure that encourages me to work hard and smart without knowing what I'll be working towards 2 months down the line.
My first pass at this will be to do a regular devlog at the end of each week (longer in the future) that acknowledges the progress I've made, and sets sights on what I want to accomplish by the next devlog. simple enough.
PROGRESS Week of 8/16
- Built out simple test playground
- Built 3rd person controller
- Tested Raycasting for shooting mechanics
- Tested dynamic animation with IK
- Modeled and rigged simple low poly Mech
- Implemented simplistic IK on Mech [Broken]

TODO Week of 8/23
- Fix Mech IK so it looks nice to walk in
- Make 3rd Person Controller for Mech
- Flesh out how the game could work in Story mode or multiplayer matches (gameplay)
- Test making on foot motion relative to parent (i.e. you can walk around on moving mechs)
STRETCH GOALS

- Add a climbing mechanic
- Make a city scape as the new play
I'm keeping track of these on a trello board for now, and look forward to seeing you next week!
